My husband left 6 months ago and is now divorcing me. We own a house together in joint names for which we both contributed to until I gave up work (joint decision) to look after our child 9 months ago. I also have another child from a previous relationship. He now pays the mortgage and the utility bills and I pay a contribution towards the mortgage and the council tax. He also pays maintenance. Contact with our child is agreed and regular. My question is will I be forced to sell our home or move out because I am not able to take on the mortgage? I am studying at present and hope to return to work in the near future where I may then be in a position to buy him out.
